K-12 L.A,/S.S. Christmas Projects

K-3 Projects

Read selections from the stories index to the students and have them draw or colour a picture related to a story. If a student produces an exceptional drawing, email a scanned copy of it to facts@gaggle.net and we will post it. Be sure to include your school name and grade and indicate you have permission to post the drawing on the Internet.

4-12 Projects
  1. Have students read a story from the index and take notes so they can share with the rest of the class what the stories are about. Once all students have read one story, find out which stories have been read and have each student share one item from their notes on each story read. Then you could assign other stories until all the stories of interest are covered. Then share highlights.
  2. Have students comment to a post on our blog posts (note some sites need special logins to make a comment) For lower grades or if everyone is making comments, have students make comments to the teacher and the teacher post selected or summary comments to the blog. If students or teachers have an Internet site to recommend they can make a link to their comment (see demo link comment on the Alberta Christmas Posts blog) or links can be made to your own blog, if you need assistance, email facts@gaggle.net
  3. Do a local history book project like the St.Albert Christmas (History Book Project)
  4. Write Stories on the History of Christmas (click to see suggestions)
